Our Vision

A vibrant hub at the heart of your community

Our Mission

As a safe and welcoming centre for the community, the Chantry Centre supports opportunities that enrich the lives of our diverse neighbourhood and support people to connect, engage and grow.

Our History

The Chantry Centre was originally built in 1926 by the engineering company R A Lister to provide social activities for the firm’s employees and families.

In the second half of the last century, the firm unfortunately went into decline but the Lister Social Club was purchased by its members.  It continued to operate until the members decided that the management of the buildings and land should take a different form that would make them more attractive to users from within the local community, as well as more commercial groups from a wider area.

As a result The Chantry Centre was formed and in July 2011 acquired, free of charge, the freehold assets of 34-36 Long Street.
